With modern contemporary styling, the 4.4kW inset stove may be for you. With its ease of installation the dragon insert stoves can simply be slotted into the existing fire grate with a minimum of mess.
The inset stoves make the air flow controllable as the fire is enclosed inside a fire box which radiates the heat out through the glass. The air is controlled through the primary and secondary (airwash) air controls, which can be adjusted to give exceptional burning times compared to an open fire.
This means that the majority of the ash is burned off during the combustion process so there may be no need to clean the stove out for several weeks.

Like the traditional style 4.4kW inset, the contemporary version has a slightly larger frame than the 3 and 5kW versions to fit into larger than standard openings.

This can be used to create a tongue behind a hearth and can make for a neater finish.
A tongue can also be created by cutting the hearth when fitting, but it is not advisible to run the hearth to far under the grate as it will simply crack due to heat from the fire. The usual method is to concrete under the grate and spray it black.
